This reads very much like a text book. I have given up and will not be finishing the book. I just can't get through the book. The characters are incredibly flat. This is not so much a young adult book as it is a grade school book. It is educational in terms of one young girls experiences during the plaque that took over PA, and would be a great historical introduction for the younger crowd it is intended for.

I do have intentions on reading her novel "Speak" however to see if the hype over it is true and whether it really is that great of a novel or not.

Read: June 5-6, 2012 read in a couple hours pages: 63 Wow, now that was intense. Great freebie from Amazon.com  I'm not a huge fan of horror and I've never read a zombie book, so this was my first. What the short stories did very well was create tension. I was tense the entire time I read this. And it was compelling enough that they kept me reading. It was a train wreck I literally couldn't stop reading and I couldn't put it down. The worst part was silly me decided to start reading this late last night before bed because I honestly did not know what to expect. I still did not expect what I got from the stories. I feel like I'm never going to be able to get to sleep in a couple hours as it is now. The images and the descriptions of the carnage was enough to cause my skin to crawl and cause me to look over my shoulder at every little creak in the house. Read: August 9-15, 2012 read in a week pages: 327 Sookie is coming to realize that her life is not entirely as she desires it to be. Her relationship with Eric is strained and has been for the last couple of books. They love each other but Eric has so many obligations in his vampire world that he hardly has time to make the relationship function outside the confines of the bedroom. Not that I am complaining because reading this series it has become a staple for there to be a good romp in the bedroom. But lately Harris' novels are lacking in that department. So I will complain a little. This one for instance has one scene and it fails terribly. It was glossed over, we see no heat or any of the passion. All we get is Sookie commenting that she left her trouble behind for a good 15 minutes. 15 minutes?! Really? That's it?? Oh come on. I know that Viking has more than 15 minutes in him!!
